!SOURCE: William Wyman Fiske, "The Whipple Family of Bishops Stortford, Hertfordshire: Proposed Ancestral Origin of Matthew Whipple of Bocking, Essex, and a Whipple Ancestral Line for Arthur Gary of Roxbury, Massachusetts," The Genealogist, Vol. 20, No. 2 (Fall 2006), p. 202-203. Fiske states that Thomas "was elected Constable of Braintree in 1541, 1542, and 1543, a post that suggests a birth year of 1510 or earlier. He married by 1547 Margaret ---, who was buried in Bocking, Essex, on 13 June 1577. He was of Newport (Pond), Essex by 11 October 1554, when:
Thomas Whyppill, of Newporte Ponde, in the county of Essex, Bladesmythe, son of Thomas Whyppyll, of Stortford, in the county of Hertford, Bladesmyth, deceased, appeared in Chancery and acknowledged that he owed John Craythorne, citizen and cutlellar, of London £200 to be paid at All Saints next to come.
At Easter Term 1555 he transferred 'messuages and lands in Stortford' to this same John Craythorne, possibly as partial repayment of the £200 debt."
