!OCCUPATION: One of the engineering pioneers of radio. (See "Radio's 100 Men of Science" (1944), by Orrin E. Dunlap Jr.) He worked for AT&T from 1910 to 1954, retiring with over 130 patents. Among his inventions are the coaxial cable, the radio altimeter, and radar.
