!HONORS: Received the Nobel Prize in 1934 (jointly with George Minot and William P. Murphey of Harvard) for the discovery that liver is curative in pernicious anemia.

George Hoyt Whipple (1878-1976), who received the 1934 Nobel Prize for Medicine, was born in Ashland, New Hampshire, in the home pictured above.
